21-year-old found dead in carport in 2005, CA officials say. Now ex-teacher convicted
Briefly

A former teacher, Charles Wright, was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of Pertina Epps and also in relation to the 2006 kidnapping and sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman.
DNA and fingerprint evidence linked Wright to the crime, although he denied involvement, suggesting his prints were on the victim's purse from selling bags and clothes out of his car.
The case remained cold until Wright was identified as a suspect in 2021, despite not knowing Epps personally, leading to his arrest and subsequent release on $1 million bail.
