Ballistic Moon, the studio behind the Until Dawn remake, faced significant challenges after releasing the game in October 2024. Following layoffs in September, the situation worsened with further job losses in December, reducing the team to only a few remaining founders. Reports suggest the studio ran into funding issues and failed to secure new projects despite efforts to pitch to publishers. Consequently, with no staff left for development or support, the studio appears to have effectively shut down, leaving major questions about its future.
"People are sharing bugs they've found in the game to make the team aware but there is no one working on patch support for the game anymore," a source told the publication.
"The studio has effectively closed now," indicating that the remaining developers after layoffs have been reduced to nearly none.
Ballistic Moon reportedly ran into funding issues following the release of Until Dawn, leading to attempts to pitch new projects that were unsuccessful.
Despite plans to continue with projects, discussions with Sony regarding future games or updates for Until Dawn yielded no positive results.
