A new pavilion named Infinite Light has been inaugurated in Bradford as part of the 2025 UK City of Culture celebrations, designed by Zarah Hussain and Fatima Mejbil. This site-specific structure, marking the beginning of Ramadan, emphasizes the theme of 'Connection' and aims to be an inclusive gathering space for the diverse communities in Bradford. The pavilion features double archways inspired by both sacred courtyards and Venetian Gothic architecture. It will be illuminated at sunset each evening to celebrate the daily conclusion of Ramadan fasting and aims to highlight Bradford's rich cultural heritage.
The Pavilion, which will remain in Centenary Square from February 14, is the second edition of the Ramadan Pavilion initiative.
As the month of Ramadan began this year on Saturday, March 1, the Pavilion serves as a timely focal point for reflection, gathering, and cultural celebration.
The Pavilion will be illuminated each evening at sunset to mark the end of the daily fast during Ramadan.
The design consists of a double-archway structure, inspired by various architectural traditions, creating an inclusive space for all communities in Bradford.
