The Met Office forecasts a warm weekend for many in the UK, with highs of 17 to 19C, before a significant temperature drop next week. While Saturday will be predominantly dry, some rain is expected in the southwest, and Sunday will see sunshine in many areas but rain in Scotland. As colder air moves in from the north, expect wintry showers, particularly in northern and eastern regions, leading to overnight frosts. Confidence is higher regarding below-average temperatures next week, contrasting with the weekend's mild conditions.
With these cold northeasterly winds, we are likely to see some wintry showers across the north and the east of the UK next week, but any accumulations of snow are likely to be largely restricted to hills.
Deputy Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office, Chris Bulmer said, 'A frontal zone will move south across the UK during Sunday night and Monday with much colder air following from the north.'
