Police have placed cordons around Hallsville Quarter in Hallsville Road, after the knife attack on Saturday (March 1) at about 8.35pm.
One resident, who wishes to be anonymous and says they have lived in Canning Town for a decade and Hallsville Quarter for four years, said muggings, theft and violent crime are a constant reality in the area.
It is yet another consequence of a knife crime crisis that has been spiralling out of control for years.
