Gordon Ramsay's new restaurant, Lucky Cat Bishopsgate, is now the highest dining venue in Europe, offering breathtaking views of London from its 60th floor. With a pan-Asian menu and a slick interior design, it adopts elements from its original Mayfair location. Ramsay expresses pride in this venture, highlighting the importance of delivering excellence that goes beyond the impressive vista. During the visit, the tranquil atmosphere is a contrast to the expected lively scene, demonstrating the dual nature of the dining experience—one that combines fine dining with atmospheric excitement.
Kitsch Meneki-Neko cats abound (though, apparently, they keep getting stolen by guests wanting a memento), and the pan-Asian menu resembles that of the original...
"We are blessed," he tells me smilingly. "We pitched for this space a few years back and I love competition... It needs to be better than good up here."
The interiors are slick and sumptuous; lovers of his three Michelin-starred Restaurant Gordon Ramsay can enjoy a 12-cover space all their own adjacent to the Lucky Cat cocktail bar.
At the risk of sounding glib, the experience makes me feel extremely proud to be a Londoner, though what awaits inside the restaurant is also pretty spectacular.
