An man in his 80s was struck by a vehicle near the Dart station on Station Road shortly before 6pm on Thursday evening. He was transported to St Vincent's University Hospital where he received treatment for serious injuries but was pronounced dead on Friday evening. The collision occurred near or on a pedestrian crossing in front of the Carlisle Grounds. Gardaí conducted a technical examination of the scene and a post-mortem examination is planned. Investigators are seeking witnesses and any camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, from people in the area between 5:40pm and 6:10pm.
