Imad Alarnab is set to open Aram, a café and restaurant at Somerset House, this autumn. The venue celebrates its 25th anniversary and will feature a menu inspired by traditional Syrian dishes, including unique desserts and pastries. The café will focus on fresh, imported Syrian produce for the first time since the war. Additionally, Aram will serve as a community space for charity events and cooking classes, reflecting Imad's personal journey as a refugee and his commitment to bringing Syrian culinary traditions to a London audience.
I feel hopeful for Syria after many years as it starts to open again, and opening Aram reflects that hope. The name 'Aram' derives from a historical part of Syria, and Aram was the son of Sam, and grandson to Noah.
Through opening Aram, I hope to introduce people to Syria and its cuisine in a way they haven't yet had the chance to see.
