An explosion occurred in a terraced house on Ley Street, Ilford, leading to two people hospitalized and significant fire damage necessitating a large firefighting response.
At the height of the fire, the first floor and loft conversion were fully alight, prompting a rapid response from eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters.
Station Commander Darren McTernan highlighted the firefighters' efforts, noting they worked hard to control the blaze while the investigation into the cause is ongoing.
