Construction for the transformation of St Paul's Gyratory is set to begin next month, with the project aimed at improving pedestrian and cyclist access in this densely trafficked area. The new Greyfriars Square, covering 3,000 square meters, will become the largest public open space in the City of London. This initiative will repurpose existing roads into pavements, add new cycle lanes, and create pedestrianized areas, thereby enhancing the urban landscape and local connectivity, aligning with the City of London’s growth strategy.
The St Paul's Gyratory project will enhance all that the Square Mile offers, creating a welcoming walking route that connects the Tate Modern to the future London Museum.
Almost 1,500 square metres of intimidating existing roads will be converted into new pavements, with 800 new metres of east-west and north-south cycle lanes.
