TfL is implementing a scheme using both enforcement and additional parking to address the issue of dockless bikes blocking pavements in London, focusing on red routes.
Walking and Cycling Commissioner Will Norman emphasized the importance of dockless e-bikes for sustainable transport while acknowledging the safety concerns related to poor parking for vulnerable pedestrians.
TfL plans to provide parking for 7,500 dockless bikes, increasing from 2,000 existing spaces, by creating 800 new spaces by next summer and targeting 3,000 by 2026.
The enforcement actions will initially target areas with significant issues, ensuring that badly parked bikes do not obstruct access or safety in these zones.
