TfL plans to extend the DLR to Thamesmead - but do the locals even want it?
Briefly

Thamesmead, designed to address London's housing needs post-war, now struggles with transport issues, including deprivation and a lack of rail access. Despite past proposals to improve connections, including a Jubilee line extension, none have been actualized, leaving residents dependent on buses. A new DLR extension proposal has garnered TfL support, but locals show indifference, with only one out of twelve residents expressing the need for a station. Transport authorities back the plan, citing public consultation support, but funding is critical for advancement.
I don't think a station is needed. Thamesmead is a wonderful location where you can get everywhere on the bus.
Transport bosses say that there is strong support for the extension, claiming a majority of people who responded to a consultation last year felt it would make their journeys quicker.
Thamesmead has pockets of high deprivation, and, lacking a train station, suffers from low levels of public transport accessibility.
Over the years, there have been a number of plans to improve rail connections for people living in Thamesmead, but no such plan has ever been realised.
