Transport for London believes relocating the pedestrian crossing on Streatham High Road will enhance public safety, having recorded 21 collisions in three years.
Cllr Harris argues the new staggered crossing will lead pedestrians away from crucial bus stops, forcing them to take risks crossing to reach their transport.
Local residents and officials suggest the £650,000 allocated for the crossing could be better spent on local road safety and cycling infrastructure improvements.
Cllr Harris criticized TfL for removing barriers which previously improved safety, effectively stating they are trying to fix a problem they created.
