Romford to Dagenham bus route to get more capacity after 'overcrowding' concerns
Briefly

Transport for London (TfL) is implementing an additional double-decker bus on the 499 route from Romford to Dagenham starting February 24, aimed at relieving overcrowding during school pick-up and drop-off times. This initiative follows complaints brought forward by local MP Julia Lopez, who highlighted residents' difficulties with the service, particularly families' experiences of buses being overcrowded, causing delays for schoolchildren. TfL responded positively to the feedback and hopes the new schedule will enhance commuting for many.
Following recent feedback from local residents on the capacity of route 499, we are pleased to be able to provide an extra double-decker journey, which will operate during school times from Monday 24 February to provide customers using the route with additional capacity.
We've been pushing for more 499 buses since Harold Hill residents flagged problems back in the autumn. Hopefully this will make journeys much better, especially at school times.
