Bradley Douglas, a 25-year-old New Zealander, died after being struck by a bus while returning home from a night out, having lived in London for only a month.
The inquest revealed that Mr. Douglas was intoxicated and had been asked to leave a bar. He walked directly into the path of the bus as it turned the corner.
Despite the bus driver failing a roadside eye test, forensic evidence suggested that it was impossible for the driver to avoid hitting Mr. Douglas.
Coroner Jean Harkin determined that Mr. Douglas's death was due to a traumatic brain injury from the collision, leading to life support being turned off.
