Mr. Athwal, who admitted to lapses in property maintenance, expressed regret over the tenants' situation, stating he will review property management practices going forward.
Upon reviewing licenses required under a scheme he previously introduced, Mr. Athwal acknowledged some of his properties may not comply, prompting him to expedite renewals.
London Assembly chairman Andrew Boff indicated he will formally request an investigation into the state of Mr. Athwal’s properties, given the troubling reports from tenants.
