London's busiest train station will shut for eight days this Christmas and New Year

Liverpool Street station, the busiest train station in the UK, will close from December 25 to January 2 for major engineering works, affecting extensive services.

Helen Hamlin, Network Rail's director, stated that the festive period is an ideal time for significant works as it's one of the quietest times on the railway.

Liverpool Street's closure will see Greater Anglia services diverted, and London Overground services will terminate or start from London Fields, impacting holiday travel.

The closures at Liverpool Street and Paddington coincide, creating significant disruption for passengers planning travel during the festive season.
