London cable car hours could be slashed due to low passenger numbers
Briefly

London's cable car is experiencing very low usage in the early mornings, with just an average of 20 customers between 7am and 8am since August 2023.
Transport for London reported only four contactless and Oyster journeys per direction in the cable car's first operating hour, prompting a review of its opening hours due to sustainability concerns.
With the cable car capable of carrying 2,500 passengers each hour, the current demand is drastically lower, necessitating operational changes to enhance efficiency and value.
The planned changes for the cable car's operating hours aim to align services with real demand, promote environmental sustainability, and provide more time for maintenance.
