The area is being improved as part of the council's South Bank Spine Route project, and work is about to start on pedestrianising Concert Hall Approach.
Ahead of the closure of the road, the 77 bus, which used to use it was diverted away from Belvedere Road, which was agreed back in June 2022 as part of TfL's Central London Bus Review.
The plans also include more seating along the road, improved surfaces around the trees, and new paving throughout the whole road.
Construction is due to begin in September and is expected to be completed in Spring 2025.
