High Street suffers Boxing Day hit as shoppers stay home
Briefly

Footfall data indicates a significant decline in in-store shopping activity on Boxing Day this year, with UK high streets down by 10.2% and shopping centres by 13.9%.
Retail analysts have pointed out that real-world shopping is falling behind online sales, as bricks-and-mortar stores grapple with high operational costs and decreasing profit margins.
Jenni Matthews from MRI Software noted that despite the Boxing Day drop, there may be a year-on-year increase in footfall starting from 27 December.
Major retailers like John Lewis, M&S, and Next chose not to open most stores on Boxing Day, prioritizing their staff's well-being during the holiday season.
