Abdul Khan, aged 27, was found guilty of attempted murder following the fatal stabbing of Bohdan Vandzhura on July 8, 2023. The victim, a 49-year-old father-of-two, died from multiple stab wounds. Previously, Khan had pleaded guilty to manslaughter due to diminished responsibility and faced charges of possession of an offensive weapon. The police identified Khan via CCTV footage disposing of the weapon and found his father assisting him. This case highlighted concerns about mental health as a contributing factor to Khan's violent behavior prior to the stabbing.
The ferocity of the knife attack has shocked everyone who has seen the CCTV footage. Our thoughts today are with Mr Vandzhura's family and friends.
This was a truly horrific assault by Khan on his innocent neighbour as he was heading to work one morning to provide for his family.
