The Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission has shortlisted five design teams from over 25 applicants to create a memorial honoring the 72 victims of the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire in London. Co-chairs Thelma Stober and Lord Boateng expressed the hope that community engagement would play a vital role in the design selection process. The shortlisted teams will conduct discussions with bereaved families and local residents before a winner is chosen in summer 2026, aiming to respect the tragedy's sensitivity and the community's vision for the memorial.
"Through this process, we intend to identify and appoint a specialist and worthy design team, one that has proven experience of working on sensitive and community-focused projects."
"The shortlisted design teams were: Curl La Tourelle + Head Architecture, Freehaus, George King Architects x Grow to Know, New South Office, Sian."
