Green light for London Stadium solar roof plans
Briefly

The project, which includes the installation of 6,500 square metres of solar panels by summer 2025, is expected to save over 200 tonnes of carbon emissions annually and generate sufficient energy for all major events at the stadium.
Mete Coban, London's deputy mayor for environment and energy, noted, "These solar panels are a game changer for the London Stadium, turning it into one of the world's greenest sports and concert venues and hugely reducing its energy use and running costs."
Graham Gilmore, the chief executive of LS185, emphasized that this "ambitious large-scale investment will reduce our energy costs, but most importantly our carbon footprint," highlighting the dual benefits of economic viability and environmental responsibility.
