Fountain House, constructed between 1954-58, has long been a notable office block in the City of London but is now set for demolition. In its place, Aviva Investors has proposed the construction of 130 Fenchurch Street, a 31-storey skyscraper designed to resemble a crown at its peak. This development will feature primarily office spaces, along with public areas including shops and exhibition spaces. The project is intended to enhance pedestrian access and contribute positively to the surrounding urban fabric. Demolition is expected to start in 2026, aiming for completion by 2030.
Stephen Black, the director at CO-RE, highlights that this new scheme will enhance public spaces, promote pedestrian connectivity, and create vital links to the area.
The 31-storey 130 Fenchurch Street will not only provide office spaces but also include a vibrant ground floor with shops, cultural exhibits, and terraces, enhancing the urban experience.
