The London Ambulance Service (LAS) is advocating for Londoners to host defibrillators in their communities, emphasizing their ease of use in life-threatening situations. According to paramedic Sam Palfreyman-Jones, having a defibrillator readily available increases a person's chance of survival from cardiac arrest by nearly fourfold. A recent grant is funding 60 defibrillators for areas identified as lacking access to these vital devices. The LAS is urging residents to participate in their Heart Starters campaign and help create a safer environment for their neighbors and loved ones by hosting these essential life-saving tools.
These devices are incredibly easy to operate and give people in life-threatening emergencies the best chance of survival.
A person who has a defibrillator used on them by a bystander is nearly four times more likely to survive a cardiac arrest.
The grant will really bolster the Heart Starters campaign and fund nearly 60 defibrillators for the local communities in desperate need of these devices.
We're calling on Londoners to help their neighbours and loved ones by hosting a defibrillator in their communities.
