Boxing Day footfall in London drops 11% as shoppers avoid high streets

This is a major contrast with last year, when footfall on Boxing Day up until 12pm was almost 3 per cent higher than the year before.
A lot of this could be that people have spent as much as they can spend this year, they spent it up (to) and on Christmas Eve.
We saw a lot of online sales kick off last night; a lot of people will have grabbed those bargains from the comfort of their own home.
Shopping figures still remain lower compared to before the pandemic, with a continued trend towards online shopping.
