Liverpool's head coach Arne Slot expressed gratitude to the football community after a tragic incident during the club's title parade, where over 50 were injured by a car. Following the arrest of the driver for attempted murder and other charges, Slot withdrew from an awards ceremony to show solidarity with those affected. He praised both emergency services and supporters for their swift actions in the aftermath. Slot was recently named Premier League manager of the year, having led Liverpool to their 20th title after replacing Jürgen Klopp.
"I have had to withdraw from the event out of solidarity with all affected. This is not a decision I have taken lightly but it is one that I feel is absolutely right given the seriousness of the situation."
"Football is and always should be a game built on rivalry, but it is also a great source of comradeship, especially at times like this."
