Liverpool orders 58 Alexander Dennis Enviro400EV for delivery by end 2026 - Sustainable Bus
Briefly

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has ordered 58 Enviro400EV zero-emission buses from Alexander Dennis, set to join the fleet later this year. Funded by the ZEBRA 2 initiative, these electric buses will initially operate under a commercial operator ahead of a franchising system starting in 2026. Mayor Steve Rotheram highlighted the importance of improving public transport quality and reliability, envisioning a bus network that enhances community service. The buses will contribute to local employment while promoting environmentally sustainable practices with their efficient energy use.
Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, emphasized the transformation of public transport: "Buses are the backbone of our public transport network - around 80% of all public transport journeys in our region are taken by bus...these new, state-of-the-art, all-electric double-deckers are another step towards building the London-style transport system our region deserves."
The Enviro400EV is designed to be financially and environmentally sustainable, boasting a best-in-class energy requirement of only 0.67kWh/km over the UK Bus Cycle and charging efficiency of 97%.
