The United States Postal Service is planning to implement five price hikes for stamps by 2027, starting with a potential increase in July 2025.
Since 2019, stamp prices have surged by 36%, shifting from 50 cents to 73 cents due to ongoing inflation and decreased mail volume.
Postmaster General Louis DeJoy stated, 'Our strategies are working and projected inflation is declining,' justifying the postponement of the planned January increase.
In response to public concern over rising costs, Rep. Jake LaTurner introduced legislation aimed at curbing 'rampant stamp increases' by the USPS.
