"It's going to be one of the strongest years on record. There is a lot of good news in these nine months of results," said Gretta Rusanow, managing director and head of advisory services at Citi Law Firm Group. This statement encapsulates the overall positive outlook for Biglaw, highlighting significant revenue growth and overall demand momentum.
"We continue to see demand momentum build from one quarter to the next," Rusanow elaborated. The consistent growth in demand for legal services indicates a robust market for law firms, reinforcing the upward trend observed in the first three quarters of 2024.
Citi's figures reveal that law firm revenue grew about 12%, with the biggest firms showing even more significant gains at 14% for the top 50 largest firms. This data underscores the financial health and competitive advantage of larger firms in the legal industry.
Demand at the 50 largest firms grew 3.6%, with productivity climbing by 2.9%. This underscores not just an increase in revenue, but also enhanced efficiency within these firms, suggesting they are optimizing resources alongside revenue growth.
