"It's an oppressive system that reflect[s] broader trends in society that use fear, intimidation, and power to silence and isolate truth. I'm trying to change that."
"you need to obey me like a dog; do whatever I say whenever I say it, without speaking."
Kate Lowry filed a lawsuit on December 30 in San Mateo County, California alleging disability discrimination, gender discrimination, and wrongful termination by Insight Partners. Insight Partners did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Lowry joined Insight Partners in 2022 after roles at Meta, McKinsey & Company, and an early-stage startup. The suit alleges she was assigned a different supervisor than during her interview and that the supervisor required constant availability, including PTO, holidays, and weekends, and response between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. daily. The suit alleges the supervisor berated, hazed, and antagonized Lowry, issued demeaning commands, assigned redundant administrative tasks, restricted her participation on calls, and allowed less experienced male colleagues greater opportunities. Lowry characterizes the behavior as part of an oppressive system that uses fear, intimidation, and power to silence employees and says she is trying to change that.
