Bisexual and transgender adults reported experiencing loneliness twice as much as straight peers, with high rates of stress, mental distress, and depression.
Gay and lesbian adults also faced higher rates of loneliness than their heterosexual and cisgender counterparts, pointing to the need for tailored mental health interventions.
Future research should focus on addressing loneliness and lack of social support among sexual and gender minority groups to improve mental health outcomes.
