I'm sick of America and can't afford it anyway - I bought my dream-home in Italy for just under $40K
Briefly

Lauren Scott, a millennial freelancer from Los Angeles, faced prohibitive housing costs in the US and decided to seek homeownership overseas. With a budget initially set at $400,000 that proved unmanageable, she shifted focus to Italy, lowering her budget to $50,000. After enlisting professional help, she purchased a furnished townhouse near Florence for $34,905. Despite this change, Scott still maintains her LA studio rental, viewing her Italian property as a long-term investment for security and stability in her future as a freelancer.
I don't want to completely demolish my savings or go into debt to buy a home here, especially with the state of the country right now.
As a freelancer, it's actually concerning because I don't always have health care, I don't have a 401K and I can't afford to invest...
I'm hoping at some point within the next year I can officially move but if I end up staying in the U.S., at least I have a future to look forward to.
I really lucked out because there's nothing wrong with it except for needing to replace that one part of the home (the hot water boiler).
