Pasadena's La Grande Orange and Luggage Room Pizzeria are permanently closing their doors due to ongoing financial pressures and difficulties associated with maintaining their historic location in the Del Mar Train Station. Restaurant owner Bob Lynn expressed regret over the closures, citing the inability to resolve issues with property ownership. The loss is considered significant for the community, especially in the wake of COVID and recent wildfires. Meanwhile, owner Roberto Perez of food truck Del Mar Ostioneria is facing challenges with city regulations but remains optimistic about establishing a permanent location.
"We honestly wish that we could remain in operation for many years to come and contribute to the community's recovery after the trauma of COVID and now the wildfires that have caused so much pain and destruction," says Lynn.
"It's actually a positive thing, a wake up call," says Perez, who is working on a brick-and-mortar location as well as a new parking space for his food truck.
