Luka Dončić, shortly after being traded to the Lakers, committed to supporting wildfire relief efforts in Los Angeles, announcing a $500,000 donation via his foundation. His heartfelt message emphasized the emotional toll of the disaster on affected children, vowing to help rebuild recreational spaces in the community. The Los Angeles Lakers organization is also actively involved in the relief, collaborating with local teams to contribute $8 million to the cause amidst the widespread devastation that even impacted their own staff, including Coach JJ Redick.
Today, my foundation is donating $500,000 to immediate recovery efforts. I am also committed to helping rebuild courts, playgrounds and fields that were destroyed, because every kid needs a safe place to play.
The devastation caused by the wildfires is so widespread that no person or even sports franchise is immune to it, including the Lakers.
The franchise has also been involved in relief efforts as well. They joined forces with other Los Angeles sports teams to jointly donate $8 million to wildfire relief.
It's been so sad to see and learn more about the damage from the wildfires since I landed in LA.
