Stephen King's Unfilmable Movie Adaptation Isn't as Dead as We Thought
Briefly

In a Vanity Fair article promoting his newest project, The Life of Chuck, director Mike Flanagan revealed that his long-awaited Dark Tower adaptation almost derailed this project.
Flanagan revealed that King was hesitant to let him have the rights to The Life of Chuck for fear it would distract him from The Dark Tower, which Flanagan is currently developing.
The 2017 theatrical adaptation of The Dark Tower was an infamous flop, but Flanagan suggested that TV may be a better medium for its story.
After last year's writers' and actors' strikes slowed production on The Dark Tower, Flanagan found it feasible to fast-track his adaptation of The Life of Chuck.
