The Justice Department has charged three Iranian nationals for allegedly hacking into the Trump 2024 campaign, stealing sensitive materials, and leaking them to media organizations.
The indictment reports that the three Iranian hackers utilized spear phishing and social engineering techniques to breach the email accounts of U.S. political officials and campaign staff.
By June 2023, the indicted individuals had begun leaking stolen documents to media outlets, further complicating the cybersecurity landscape for political campaigns in the U.S.
