Satya Nadella asked Microsoft to reduce his pay
Briefly

Mr Nadella agreed that the company's performance was extremely strong, but reflecting on his personal commitment to security and his role as the CEO, asked the board to consider departing from the established performance metrics and reduce his cash incentive to reflect his personal accountability for the focus and speed required for the changes that today's cybersecurity threat landscape showed were necessary.
Despite requesting to cut his cash incentive, Satya Nadella's overall compensation package soared to over $79 million, a rise of more than 60% from the previous year's $48.5 million.
The board approved a cash incentive for Nadella of $5.2 million-representing more than a 50% reduction from the $10.66 million he would have been awarded based on the financial and operational performance.
The 2024 proxy filing revealed Microsoft's increased focus on cybersecurity, mentioning the word 'cybersecurity' over 30 times, clearly signaling to shareholders its heightened importance.
