On October 19, Hot Topic experienced a data breach that has compromised the personal information of 57 million customers, including their email addresses and partial credit card data.
The threat actor known as 'Satanic' claimed responsibility for the breach, initially attempting to sell the data for $20,000, before later lowering the price to $3,500.
Despite the magnitude of the breach, Hot Topic has not yet publicly confirmed the incident or issued notifications to affected customers regarding the compromised data.
Cybersecurity firm Hudson Rock suggests that the breach may be linked to infostealer malware that allowed the threat actor to access Hot Topic's cloud environments.
