Drug addiction treatment company fesses up to data theft

BayMark Health Services, one of the largest drug addiction treatment facilities in the US, is notifying patients that their sensitive personal information was compromised in a cyber attack that occurred between September 24 and October 14, 2024.
In a letter to affected individuals, BayMark stated, 'On October 11, 2024, we learned of an incident that disrupted some of our IT systems. We immediately took steps to secure our systems, launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party forensic experts, and notified law enforcement.'
The company, which claims to support 'tens of thousands of individuals on their path to recovery every day,' has initiated complimentary identity monitoring services for those impacted, acknowledging the potential concerns raised by the incident.
BayMark emphasized its commitment to safeguarding patient information, stating, 'We remain committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of patient information, and apologize for the concern this may cause.'
