The deadly E. coli outbreak linked to slivered onions on McDonald's Quarter Pounder burgers has sickened 104 people across 14 states, with 34 hospitalized and one death reported.
Federal health officials indicated symptoms typically include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting, with most recovering without treatment within five to seven days.
The FDA confirmed that onion supplier Taylor Farms recalled yellow onions, while McDonald's has since reintroduced slivered onions from an alternative supplier.
Despite the outbreak, the FDA stated that there does not appear to be a continued food safety concern related to McDonald's restaurants.
