The IIT College of Architecture debuted a new rebranding by design studio Span, aiming to connect its storied modernist past, particularly that of Mies van der Rohe, with current trends appealing to students. The branding features a clean aesthetic with a focus on the newly released Neue Galerie typeface, inspired by Mies van der Rohe's sketches, alongside innovative website design that reflects architectural principles. Extensive photography was utilized to weave the narrative of the brand effectively, showcasing the college's heritage and contemporary relevance.
We're a branding-led design studio that works across all media and this project perfectly encapsulates that, says Span partner and design director Bud Rodecker.
The new brand was created by Span, whose task was to convey this history in a way that would appeal to potential and current students.
