On May 14, Berlin will host an action day allowing residents to visit citizenship offices without prior online appointments. This initiative focuses on providing easier access to essential services like passports and ID cards across nine districts, while some areas must still book appointments. The Berlin Senate aims to enhance the administrative experience for residents, and if successful, this drop-in service could become more regular. Residents should check their district's participation, as not all will offer this convenience, particularly Pankow, Reinickendorf, and Lichtenberg.
The citizens' offices are there for Berliners - and already offer a great service," Berlin May Kai Wegner said in a statement announcing the move.
The day of action on May 14th, we are making citizens an additional offer: they can come to the citizens' office without booking an appointment in advance.
If the action day is successful, it could be rolled out as a more regular service throughout the city.
Residents can only visit the citizens' office in the district where they are registered.
