Mark Cuban emphasizes that while AI significantly enhances efficiency in creative industries, human judgment and instinct are irreplaceable parts of storytelling. He argues that true artistic value comes from personal decision-making rather than solely relying on AI-generated suggestions. Cuban raised concerns about AI potentially threatening job security, particularly for actors and writers, but maintains that AI should be viewed as a tool rather than a replacement for human creatives. Ultimately, the success of creative projects stems from understanding audience needs, a skill AI cannot emulate.
"AI can propose a million things in a second, but then somebody's got to go through and decide what they're going to put their money into," Cuban said on an episode of the "YMH" podcast.
"AI is not going to, you know, hit your bank account and produce a movie for you, produce a podcast or whatever," Cuban said on the podcast.
"I think AI is just one more creative tool," Cuban told BI. "It's like a writing or creative partner, but not a decision-maker."
"There is a reason why some people have hit after hit, regardless of whether it's music, books, poetry, movies, TV; they have a feel for what the audience wants," Cuban wrote.
