Artists offer to replace collectors' works lost in LA fires
Briefly

In the wake of the destructive Palisades and Eaton fires in Greater Los Angeles, acclaimed photographer Martin Schoeller has taken steps to mitigate the losses for collectors. He announced that his studio would replace editions lost or damaged in the fires for a minimal cost. So far, only one couple has sought this opportunity—TV stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, who lost two portraits in the disaster. Schoeller emphasized his commitment to help victims, maintaining that this support extends to all future losses due to similar tragedies.
Schoeller says that, as of 22 January, only one collecting couple had approached him about replacing their pieces damaged by wildfire: the reality-television stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt.
His studio will replace any editions lost or damaged in the fires, only asking collectors to pay the studio's cost of reprinting.
Schoeller adds that his offer to Pratt and Montag "will be extended to anyone else" who suffers a similar loss now or in the future.
Schoeller believes that "things happen in life we can't control, like fires, theft, natural disasters" and aims to support those affected.
