French forecasters predict nationwide heatwave this week
Briefly

Météo France forecasts a significant heatwave beginning Wednesday, with temperatures averaging 30C and peaking at 34-35C by Friday. This extreme weather is attributed to an 'Omega blockage' that traps warm air from southern Europe over France and southern England. While high temperatures are expected nationwide, the west will be slightly cooler. After a brief cooldown over the weekend, the hot weather is anticipated to persist into the early part of next week, affecting many residents across the country.
Temperatures are predicted to start to rise on Wednesday, with an average of 30C across the country before spiking on Thursday and Friday.
'The mercury will rise slowly to around 33C on Thursday, before reaching 34 or 35C on Friday, expected to be the hottest day of the episode', Météo France's François Gourand told Le Parisien.
