High winds exceeding 100 km/h in south-west France led to widespread power outages, leaving thousands of homes without electricity. By Friday morning, 1,500 homes in Haute-Garonne and 1,000 in Tarn were affected. As emergency crews worked to restore power, ongoing windy conditions prompted Météo France to issue orange weather warnings for five départements. Significant gusts recorded during this weather event caused travel disruptions, with reduced speed limits on autoroutes and halted regional train services, in addition to closures of outdoor markets.
As of early Friday morning, 1,500 homes in the Haute-Garonne département did not have electricity, while 1,000 were without power in the Tarn département.
High winds have brought down trees and branches across the region, in some cases landing on parked cars, especially in the Haute-Garonne département.
