"We are truly saddened that we are being forced to close the ice cream shop that my mother started in 1992 and ran until she passed away in 2004. We feel that we have built on her legacy and we wished that we could have continued. However, this was completely out of our control,"
"We would like to thank all of our employees, loyal customers, and friends who have supported us over the last 15 years. We will continue to see you on our trucks again starting this Spring."
"completely unexpected and extremely surprising"
Perry's Last Stand, a beloved ice cream shop on 2704 Cranberry Hwy, is closing after 15 years serving the South Coast. The closure resulted from the landlord terminating the lease, described as completely unexpected and extremely surprising. The shop began in 1992, run by the founder until her death in 2004, and the family expanded her legacy thereafter. The parlor offered more than 70 hard ice cream flavors and 16 rotating soft-serve flavors including creamsicle and mocha. The ice cream trucks will return starting this spring and will be available for events. Gift certificates purchased at the shop remain valid at the trucks. The announcement drew hundreds of supportive commenters.
