"Kappo, a new 12-seat Japanese restaurant, is slated to open on Dec. 2, according to a news release. Kappo is owned by Omakase Restaurant Group, the team behind San Francisco's Michelin-starred Niku Steakhouse and recently opened Prelude. The intimate, open-kitchen restaurant is helmed by executive chef Nikolas Neuwirt, who has worked at SF's Niku Steakhouse, Prelude and Birdsong, as well as in kitchens in Denmark and France."
"Kappo will serve a nine-course menu of Japanese cuisine through a modern California lens, with an emphasis on live-fire cooking. Dishes will include a seaweed soup with bull kelp foraged from local waters and hand-cut into noodles, served in a clarified broth with house-fermented squash miso, as well as spiny lobster grilled over coals and paired with sweet, crunchy chili. Dessert will be interactive: Think a sweet version of chips and dip, in which diners finish their meal with cookies and sweet accompaniments."
