These 6 NYC restaurants just earned new Michelin stars
"Sushi Sho, the omakase hotspot helmed by Keiji Nakazawa, earned an additional star, bringing it to three Michelin stars-the guide's highest honor, given to restaurants offering "exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey." It now joins the elite group already occupied by the perennially lauded Korean restaurant Jungsik, Eric Ripert's famed Le Bernardin, Thomas Keller's Per Se and Daniel Humm's Eleven Madison Park (which recently returned to its carnivorous roots)."
"A number of long-standing honorees retained their two Michelin stars, including Scandinavian restaurant Ask, the intimate Brooklyn eatery that also boasts a cellar bar and garden; Aquavit, a high-end Scandinavian restaurant with prix-fixe and tasting menus; downtown New American standout Atera; the well-known Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Tarrytown; César, another tasting-menu destination; Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare; modern French landmark Gabriel Kreuther; Jean-Georges' eponymous flagship; Danny Meyer's The Modern inside the Museum of Modern Art;"
At the 2025 Michelin Northeast Cities ceremony in Philadelphia, several New York restaurants received notable Michelin updates. Sushi Sho, led by Keiji Nakazawa, earned a third Michelin star, joining elite three-star peers such as Jungsik, Le Bernardin, Per Se and Eleven Madison Park. Joo Ok rose from one to two stars. Many established two-star venues retained their rankings, including Ask, Aquavit, Atera, Blue Hill at Stone Barns, César, Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare, Gabriel Kreuther, Jean-Georges, The Modern, Odo, Saga, Sushi Noz and Masa, which recently lost a star before the ceremony. Four restaurants achieved their first Michelin star, including Bridges and Muku.
